Begin to Sew

Come to learn the basics of sewing.  You will be making a pillow and a tote bag while you learn all the ins and outs of sewing.  Even if you have never sat at a sewing machine, you are welcome.

Sewing Machines are available at the store for you to use.

***please note different start time on first class

Skill Level: beginner
Skill Details: Beginner
Requirements: Use one of our sewing machines or bring your own. You will need good fabric scissors and small scissors for snipping thread, a seam ripper, and pins. For cutting, you will need a rotary cutter. These are all very basic supplies used most times you sew anything. You will be using one of our cutting mats, so you do not need to bring one to class. If you do not own any of the above supplies and are on a tight budget you can borrow from us during class. If you are using our machine you are welcome to use the thread on it, if you bring a machine you will need a spool of light colored thread. You will also need to purchase fabric for your two projects and a pillow form. Usually that happens during class but you are welcome to stop by The Shop and select it ahead of time. We estimate each project to cost around $15 in fabric and interfacing. For the pillow, we do some top stitching with thread, and you will likely want a color to match whatever fabric you choose.
